Assistant Foreign Minister Zhai Jun and Secretary-General of Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hold Political Consultation

On May 12, 2009, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Zhai Jun and visiting Secretary-General of Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Madjid Bouguerra held the sixth round of political consultation between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs.

Zhai spoke highly of the fruitful cooperation between China and Algeria in all areas since they established diplomatic ties 50 years ago. China is ready to continue joint efforts with Algeria to build up political trust, deepen pragmatic cooperation and expand humanities exchanges. He also urged both sides to strengthen exchanges and cooperation within the frameworks of the China-Africa and China-Arab cooperation forums, keep closer consultation and coordination in international and regional affairs and push for all-round development of China-Algeria strategic cooperative relations.

Bouguerra noted that the friendly relations between the two countries are based on mutual trust, mutual respect and mutual assistance and to further enhance bilateral cooperation of mutual benefit is in the interest of both countries and their peoples. Algeria is ready to work with China to tap potential of bilateral cooperation and deepen Algeria-China strategic cooperative relations in an all-round manner.

Both sides also had an in-depth exchange of views on the global financial crisis, the Middle East situation and other issues of common concern.
