On July 23, 2010, Equatorial Guinea's Prime Minister Ignacio Milam Tang met with visiting Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo in Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Guinea. Milam said that the two countries have maintained sound relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties. He said his country is satisfied with the status quo of bilateral ties and thanks for China’s disinterested assistance to Equatorial Guinea’s economic and social development over the years. China’s aid is based on the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and is welcome by African countries. China has also shown that she is sincere in her cooperation with Africa by following a non-interference policy in African internal matters, he pointed out. Chinese businesses’ positive contributions to Equatorial Guinea’s infrastructure construction indicate Chinese people’s friendly feelings towards Equatorial Guinea’s people. Bilateral cooperation is mutually beneficial and Equatorial Guinea is ready to maintain close exchanges with China and further develop friendly cooperation, he added. Dai said that with the joint efforts of both sides bilateral ties have witnessed healthy, stable and sustained development since the establishment of diplomatic relations 40 years ago, bringing tangible benefits to both peoples. Despite the great changes in the domestic circumstances of the two countries and the world situation over the past four decades, the friendship and trust between both sides remain unchanged and have further deepened with pragmatic cooperation in all areas enhanced continuously. China is ready to work with Equatorial Guinea to push for in-depth, all-round development of bilateral ties in the next four decades. Support is mutual and Equatorial Guinea has also offered precious support to China on many issues concerning the country’s state sovereignty, security and development interests. In the years to come, China will adhere to the principles of non-interference in other countries' internal affairs, mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit and unswervingly embark on a road of the development of China-Africa friendly cooperative relations. As a developing nation, China will always stand with African countries, Dai said. On the same day, Dai also held talks with Equatorial Guinea's Deputy Prime Minister Demetrio Elo Ngong Nsefumu.
